AI-Quizzer offers two types of quizzes: Question-based and Language Conversation. Here's how to create each:

Question-based Quiz

  1. Select "Questions" as the quiz type.
  2. Upload images:
    • Select images from your device or upload from your phone.
    • You can use pictures of book pages or any study material.
  3. AI Generation:
    • Gemini Vision AI automatically generates relevant questions based on your uploaded images.
    • Questions are grounded in your images, ensuring accuracy and relevance.
  4. Review and Edit:
    • Review the generated questions on the screen.
    • Edit or add questions if needed.

Language Conversation Quiz

  1. Select "Language" as the quiz type.
  2. Set up the quiz:
    • Add conversation prompts for various scenarios or topics.
    • Specify the target language for practice.
  3. AI Integration:
    • Gemini multimodal AI powers the conversational feature.
    • It will evaluate user responses based on the prompts and language settings.

Text-to-Speech (TTS) Settings

Overview

AI-Quizzer utilizes your browser's built-in Text-to-Speech technology to read questions and results aloud. This feature enhances accessibility, aids younger learners, benefits those with visual impairments, and caters to auditory learners.

Initial Setup

We initially select the language based on your browser settings. On Chrome browsers, we preset the filter to "Google" plus your browser language, as we've found Google voices to work best. However, you're free to customize this experience to your preferences.

Customizing Your TTS Experience

  1. Selecting Voices:
    • Open the TTS Settings to access the voice selection dropdown.
    • Use the filter feature to navigate the potentially overwhelming number of voice options.
    • Available voices vary based on your operating system and browser.
    • Tip: On Chrome devices, search for "Google" voices for the highest quality.
  2. Choosing Language:
    • Select your preferred language for TTS output.
    • AI-Quizzer supports multiple languages for questions and feedback.
  3. Adjusting Speech Rate:
    • Use the speed slider to set a comfortable pace for the speech.
  4. Enabling Auto-Read:
    • Toggle the "Automatically read results aloud" option.
    • When enabled, questions and feedback will be read automatically.

Answering Questions

AI-Quizzer offers two modes for answering questions: Audio Mode and Text Mode. You can switch between these modes at any time using the toggle button above the answer area.

Audio Mode

  1. Click the "Record" button to start recording your answer.
  2. Speak your answer clearly into your device's microphone.
  3. Release the "Record" button when you're finished.
  4. Your audio is uploaded and analyzed by cloud AI.
  5. The AI compares your audio recording against the question and original answer.
  6. Receive detailed evaluation and friendly feedback on your response, including scores for correctness and completeness.

Text Mode

  1. Toggle to "Text Mode" if not already selected.
  2. Click and hold the "Push to Answer" button to start recording your answer.
  3. Speak your answer (on-device AI converts speech to text).
  4. The system uses the language selected in your text-to-speech settings.
  5. You'll see your text appear in the "Transcribed Text" area as you speak.
  6. Release the button to send your answer for evaluation.
  7. Gemini AI evaluates your text response, comparing it to the original question and answer.

Feedback and Evaluation

  • Feedback is provided on-screen for both audio and text responses.
  • The feedback can be read aloud if TTS is enabled.
  • You'll receive correctness and completeness scores based on your answer's alignment with the original question and correct answer.

Language Conversation Practice

  1. The target language for practice is specified when creating a quiz.
  2. Read or listen to the conversation prompt.
  3. Respond in the target language using audio only (Text mode is not available for language practice).
  4. Gemini Multimodal AI evaluates your response, considering:
    • Grammar
    • Pronunciation
    • Content relevance
  5. Receive feedback in your native language, including friendly suggestions for improvement.

Future Enhancements

We plan to integrate advanced AI models for text-to-speech and speech recognition as they become available through Chrome's built-in AI capabilities. This will enhance our voice interaction features without server-side processing, providing a smoother and more efficient user experience.

Quiz Sharing

AI-Quizzer allows you to share your quizzes with others in two ways:

Sharing from "My Quizzes" page:

  1. Go to the "My Quizzes" page.
  2. Find the quiz you want to share.
  3. Click the "Share" button next to the quiz.
  4. A shareable link will be generated and copied to your clipboard.
  5. You can now paste this link and send it to others.
  6. Anyone with the link can access and take the quiz.

Sharing from "My Sessions" page:

  1. Navigate to the "My Sessions" page.
  2. Locate the quiz session you want to share.
  3. Click the "Share Quiz" button associated with that session.
  4. The shareable link for the quiz will be copied to your clipboard.
  5. You can then paste and share this link with others.

Progress Tracking and Performance Analytics

Track your progress and view performance analytics:

  1. Navigate to the "My Sessions" page from the main menu.
  2. Here, you'll see a list of all your quiz sessions, including:
    • Quiz title
    • Start time
    • Status (in progress or completed)
    • Progress bar showing percentage of questions answered
  3. Click on a completed session to view detailed results.
  4. For ongoing sessions, click "Continue" to resume the quiz.

Scoring System Explanation

AI-Quizzer uses a comprehensive scoring system to evaluate your answers:

  • Correctness Score: Ranges from 0 to 10
    • Measures how accurate your answer is compared to the correct answer
    • A higher score indicates a more accurate response
  • Completeness Score: Ranges from 0 to 10
    • Indicates how thorough your answer is
    • A higher score means you've covered more aspects of the expected answer
  • Language Skills (for language practice): Ranges from 0 to 10 for each aspect
    • Pronunciation: Evaluates the accuracy of your spoken language
    • Grammar: Assesses the correctness of your sentence structure and word usage
    • Content: Measures the relevance and appropriateness of your response
  • Scores are provided for each question you answer.
  • At the end of a quiz session, you can review these scores for each question.
  • The AI provides feedback explaining why you received each score, helping you understand areas for improvement.

Remember, the goal is not just to get high scores, but to learn and improve. Use the feedback provided with each score to enhance your understanding of the subject matter and language skills.
